Energy Minister Dumitru Chișăliță estimates household electricity bills will rise by between 10% and 22% versus the same period last year, based on offers posted on ANRE’s platform. Natural-gas prices, by contrast, remain under an administrative cap until 31 March 2027, so household gas bills should stay near last year’s level at similar consumption, Newsweek Romania reports from the minister’s remarks.
“On electricity there is, right now, a price increase visible on ANRE’s website, where offers are posted,” Chișăliță said. Supplier offers on the National Energy Regulatory Authority platform are higher; many individual contracts take those offers as prices, so household electricity costs are rising.
Given differences among suppliers and the ANRE listings, he estimated bill increases “somewhere between 10 and 20–22%,” according to News.ro. This is not a new single electricity cap, but a reading of competitive offers on the market.
For gas, the law keeps an administrative price for Romanian-produced gas sold to suppliers until 31 March 2027. “The final price should be similar to last year […] bills should not be higher, given that the administrative price is lower than last year’s capped price,” Chișăliță said.
The message splits the two utilities: pressure on power from dearer ANRE offers, relative stability on gas while the cap holds. Households are implicitly urged to compare ANRE offers before renewing contracts.
