The Muscarelle Museum of Art, on the William & Mary campus in Williamsburg, Virginia, holds its fourth Community Art Day on Saturday 19 September 2026. The event page lists 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 603 Jamestown Road. Admission is free and open to all.
The programme mixes all-ages art activities, live music, student vendors and guided tours. The museum names the exhibitions “Forever Marked By The Day” and “Highlights of the Permanent Collection”. A complimentary photobooth and Café M complete the day.
A chalk-art competition is advertised with prizes: 500 dollars for first place, 250 for second and 150 for third, after judging. Entering the contest is separate from the free visit; registration details should be taken from the museum site, not from third-party summaries.
Student performances are listed hourly: The Stairwells at 11:00, Haul at 12:00, Covercharge at 1:00, Wham Bam at 2:00 and Royal Fish at 3:00. The line-up may shift; the published opening time remains the museum’s.
The day is designed for participation, not only looking. Workshops put material, colour and process in view without turning the visit into a compulsory class. For families, the format lowers the barrier to a university art museum.
Williamsburg Families repeats the same hours and address. A local calendar does not replace the museum notice if the weather or the timetable changes. Visitors with children should check which activities need advance sign-up.
This article does not invent exhibited works beyond the titles given and does not estimate attendance. For 19 September the reference remains the Muscarelle Museum of Art: free, 11:00–16:00, Community Art Day.
