The army attempted on Sunday to break the Pârjoaia rock to divert the Danube's course towards the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant using two controlled explosions, one on the surface and one underwater. The operation, which involved over 100 military personnel, was unsuccessful. The mission will resume on Monday, and 'we will gradually increase the explosive charge,' announced from the scene, Contramiral Marcel Neculae, the representative of the Chief of the Naval Forces' General Staff.

The Pârjoaia rock is located on the right bank of the Danube, in the Izvoarele area, Constanța County. Military specialists who conducted measurements on the Danube on Saturday decided to drop this rock into the air as it blocks the Danube's course, which could reach the Cernavodă nuclear plant.

The operation began on Sunday, with the first explosion, 'controlled,' taking place at 12:00. 'We executed the first explosion on the surface to see how the rock would react, then we proceeded with the second explosion. Our expectations were to displace the Pârjoaia rock.
