Romania’s Education Ministry says more than 650 schools will receive funding for activities to prevent functional illiteracy and school dropout under the PRIMII project — a programme for primary-education success through integrated intervention. The final list of selected projects was published Wednesday, news.ro reports.

All primary pupils in the selected schools (legal entities plus structures) rated at very high or high risk of early school leaving and dropout will be included, based on the Early Warning Mechanism in Education (MATE) and community marginalisation (UNICEF index).

Admitted projects were ranked by descending score, using tie-break rules in the methodology approved by Ministerial Order 5.798/2026, within the 2026–2027 budget round.

For admitted projects, the Ministry of Education and Research will sign funding agreements with beneficiary schools. Reserve projects may be funded, in list order, if money frees up through withdrawal, renunciation, unsigned agreements, decommitment or a budget top-up.
