On Monday 19 October, around 9 a.m., at Shirahata intersection in Fujisawa 3-chome, Kanagawa Prefecture, a passer-by called 119: car, taxi, bus. Asahi, updated at 12:23, says a woman in her 70s, in the passenger car, has died. That is not a conviction. It is a hospital toll, after cardiopulmonary arrest reported earlier.

Kyodo, in Mainichi English, still had 14 people taken to hospital, one unresponsive, after a tour bus. NNN/TVer, before Asahi’s update: 13 taken, the car passenger in arrest. We have not mixed this file with another Fujisawa crash, on 7 October, at Ishikawa, with no bus.

Fujisawa police, cited by Asahi: a signalised crossroads. A car hit, before the junction, a taxi and another oncoming vehicle, entered the intersection and struck the right rear of a tour bus crossing left to right. Who was driving remains, in these reports, a supposition: NNN says an elderly driver; Asahi does not name the driver.

Firefighters, still Asahi: that car held a man and a woman, both in their 70s; the woman died, the man is moderately hurt. A man in his 20s, from another car, also moderate. The 11 on the bus, men and women aged 60 to 80, slightly injured. Total: 14 to hospital.

The vehicle count is not identical on every wire. Asahi, after the update: bus, taxi and four cars — six. Shorter reports spoke of four. We have not picked a culprit and we have not put a foot on the accelerator: that belongs to another case, on 7 October.

This is not a verdict of blame. It is a Monday morning, a signalised junction, a tour bus and a death confirmed by Asahi. Fujisawa police are reconstructing. We have not written that the dead woman was driving.
