International Coffee Day falls on 1 October. In March 2026 the UN General Assembly proclaimed the date in resolution A/RES/80/248, inviting FAO to facilitate the observance with the International Coffee Organization.

The ICO launched its 2026 campaign “Coffee is Part of the Solution” for the whole year, not only 1 October. The 26 February release from London attributes coffee income to about 12.5 million farming families — an ICO figure, not this newsroom’s census.

Prices, costs, plant disease and extreme weather hit farms unevenly, by country, variety and contract. Certification schemes use different criteria and are not equivalent. A café promotion is not automatically an official ICO action.

Traceability, pay and climate adaptation remain sector themes. This account does not invent a world bean price for 1 October.

The ICO’s 2026 campaign line is the one above; a separate slogan for the day alone is not cited here if the organiser has not published it as a distinct day theme.
