The Muscat Agreement on the Delimitation of the Maritime Boundary between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was signed in Muscat on 12 June 2000 by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, for the Omani Government, and Abdul Sattar, for the Pakistani Government, in duplicate, the Arabic and English texts being equally authentic, English prevailing in case of divergence. It is not the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea itself. The preamble invokes neighbourly friendship and the wish to delimit permanently, equitably and definitively, in conformity with international law.

Article I: the maritime boundary between the exclusive economic zones shall be measured from baselines established in conformity with the 1982 Convention. Article II: delimitation shall be based on the median-line principle, likewise in conformity with that Convention. Article III: the line is the geodesic lines referred to WGS 84 joining nine fixed points whose geographical coordinates are given. Article IV: it is illustrated on Admiralty Charts BA 38 and BA 707, attached. A point-by-point itinerary or a delimitation handbook is not set out here.

Article V: each party recognizes the sovereign rights of the other over the seabed, including the subsoil and superjacent waters, within the limits established by the agreement. Article VI, at framework level: if a geological structure, field or other natural resources cross the line, exploitation shall be undertaken by mutual agreement, according to the rules of international law and the principles of justice and equity; a zone of 125 metres on either side shall not be exploited except by mutual consent; in the event of a dispute, the parties shall do their utmost to agree on coordination. A drilling or exploitation protocol is not transcribed.

Article VII: the charts form an integral part, signed in duplicate. Article VIII: ratification in accordance with each country's legal procedures; it comes into force following the exchange of instruments; a copy shall be deposited with the United Nations Secretariat. It entered into force on 21 November 2000. It was registered with the United Nations on 6 June 2002 as No. 38455, volume 2183. The Wikipedia infobox that places ratification on the day of signature is wrong.
