Police under the General Prosecutor’s coordination continue Thursday the fourth day of Operation “Jupiter”: nearly 400 home-search warrants are being executed in Bucharest and several counties, Mediafax reported.

During the day, the action with the Romanian Police General Inspectorate involves 91 operative actions and 397 search warrants. Probes span tax evasion, smuggling, money laundering, embezzlement, fraud, abuse of office, fraudulent management, forgery, pimping, theft, sexual offences against minors, weapons rules, excise goods, illegal logging and waste crimes.

Romanian Police say investigations in the targeted cases have identified losses above 33,090,760 lei. A core aim is fighting economic-financial crime and recovering damages — including tracing assets from offences and imposing precautionary measures.

Weapons get special focus: several cases involve people who allegedly bought or held non-lethal licensed arms and ammunition without right via online orders, plus suspects of illegal lethal weapons.

Environmental offences are also in scope: illegal waste handling, unlicensed car dismantling, abandoned waste, illegal felling and timber theft. Beyond searches, officers execute bring-in warrants, hearings and asset freezes.

Operation “Jupiter” began in previous days with similar search waves in the capital and nationwide; day four keeps the broad tempo under the High Court Prosecutor’s Office umbrella.

Authorities have not, in the Mediafax-cited briefing, broken out county-by-county tallies or detention types; the public emphasis remains on warrant scale and damage recovery.
