Police and prosecutors are running one of the year’s largest actions on Tuesday, 3 November, in Operation JUPITER, coordinated by the High Court prosecutors’ office and IGPR: over 300 home searches nationwide, Adevărul reports citing Romanian Police.
“Police, under case prosecutors’ supervision, are carrying out 304 home searches in operational actions to hold those involved in offences to account and protect the community from illegality,” Police said.
The cases cover tax evasion, smuggling (including aggravated), money laundering, document forgery, fraud, cyber fraud, counterfeiting, embezzlement, theft, usury, blackmail, robbery, abuse of office, illegal fund-raising and corruption offences.
Also targeted are weapons and ammunition breaches, poaching, toxic-substance trafficking and forestry crimes — illegal logging, timber theft, transport without papers and tampering with forest-monitoring data systems.
Investigators aim to document offences, recover losses and seize illegal assets. Those identified will be questioned; prosecutors decide legal measures case by case. Police say updates will follow through the day.
