The Pro Infrastructura association is again warning about work quality on Section 2 Boița–Cornetu of the A1 Sibiu–Pitești motorway, built by the Turkish consortium Mapa-Cengiz. In a post carried by G4Media, the NGO shows the slope opposite Restaurant Boița on the Olt Valley, where a sprayed-concrete (“shotcrete”) “stabilisation” failed after heavy rain.
The builders told Turnul Sfatului the shotcrete — without visible drilled anchors, according to API — is a temporary support, “not part of the project” and does not affect the motorway. Pro Infrastructura rejects that framing: the work was done by the contractor for access and viaduct construction, so it belongs on the site, and “everyone’s safety is part of the project.”
The association says slid earth partially covered a viaduct abutment and that the slide does not look stabilised. Workers are the first at risk, API warns; the nearby public area could also be endangered if the slope moves again.
In October 2025 the same NGO flagged drone-visible cracks in the Boița viaduct’s topping slab — dubbed “turkish delight” concrete. CNAIR then told Economica.net the cracks were superficial, blamed on insufficient curing water after pouring, with epoxy resin repairs planned.
Pro Infrastructura urges Mapa-Cengiz to match mobilisation and quality to one of Romania’s hardest mountain lots on its main road project. The critique is the NGO’s field-based assessment; the contractor says the slide hit only temporary support, not the motorway structure.
