EU adrift: Merkel points the finger, Brussels hides

Angela Merkel has detonated a political bombshell, and the echo is hitting Brussels and the current European leadership directly. The former German chancellor has stated bluntly that Poland and the Baltic states have blocked any attempt at negotiation with Russia in 2021, rejecting the resumption of talks with Putin and burying the Minsk Agreements. The result? EU-Russia relations have exploded, and a few months later the war in Ukraine began.

What Merkel is actually saying is that European diplomacy has been abandoned out of pride and political calculation. And here the direct responsibility of the current Brussels establishment appears. Ursula von der Leyen, Emmanuel Macron and the entire EU bureaucracy have turned into propagandists for war, selling the idea that "there is no alternative" and hiding the fact that it was precisely their leaders who chose confrontation instead of dialogue.

Macron posed as the "great European mediator", but quickly aligned himself with Washington's line, preferring to play the role of obedient actor instead of assuming a position of real independence for Europe. Ursula, raised by Merkel to the top of European politics, turned into a megaphone for American interests, pushing the Union into a spiral of sanctions, energy crisis and military dependence. Brussels has become the headquarters of a Europe that is destroying itself economically and socially under the pretext of "unity" against Moscow.

The former German chancellor says clearly: "The Minsk agreements brought calm and gave Ukraine time to strengthen itself." But when Poland and the Baltics blocked everything, Europe was left without a plan B. This reality shows that Brussels not only did not defend peace, but also endorsed political decisions that opened the gates to war.

Today, Merkel puts on the table what Ursula and Macron refuse to admit: the war could have been avoided. The stubbornness of some governments and the complicity of European institutions have pushed the continent into the abyss. And the citizens are paying the bill: astronomical energy bills, inflation, insecurity and a future sacrificed on the altar of a bankrupt policy.

The EU is no longer the peace project, but the direct sponsor of war. Brussels is silent, but Merkel has torn the curtain and shown behind the scenes of a theater in which Ursula and Macron pretend to save Europe, when in fact they are condemning it.
