On 7 August 2019, in Singapore and other capitals, the United Nations Convention on International Settlement Agreements Resulting from Mediation — the Singapore Convention on Mediation — is opened for signature.

The Convention creates a cross-border enforcement regime for commercial mediation agreements, similar to the New York Convention for arbitration.

Adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2018 and opened for signature on 7 August 2019, it responds to the rise of mediation in international commercial disputes.

Entry into force: 12 September 2020. Singapore hosted the signing ceremony alongside other states.

For alternative dispute resolution, 7 August 2019 marks the opening for signature of the Singapore Convention.
